Christmas cards are losing their religious message
12/9/2006- England- Only one in 100 Christmas cards sold in Britain contains any religious imagery or message, a Daily Mail survey has revealed. (I'm convinced this is the case in the US too, juging by the crads I've seen and recieved...)
Traditional pictures such as angels blowing trumpets over a stable, Jesus in his manager, the shepherds and three wise men following the star to Bethlehem are dying out.
Instead, scenes of the Nativity has been replaced on cards by designs or jokes with little or no relevance to the Bible story and the true meaning of Christmas...
...[one] card wish[es] the recipient a "Happy December"...

Outrage against non-Christmas cards growing
12/9/2006 England ...The debate over whether Christmas cards should be traditional with a religious message or secular was gaining momentum last night.
A column by The Daily Telegraph's Jeff Randall in which he said he was discarding all cards that did not mention the word "Christmas"…
It was the latest development in a continuing row over attempts to turn Christmas into a "winter festival".
...One Daily Telegraph reader wrote in an email: "We are a Sikh family and love Christmas. My message to Christian leaders is to stop apologising and restore confidence in the Church."

Karen and I had already decided prior to reading this article to pitch any and all cards we receive this year that do not say "Merry Christmas" or have a Christmas theme to it... None of that namby-pamby "wishing you 'good thoughts' or ‘Happy Holidays.’ No one's good thoughts or vibes can do me any good, only the birth and resurrection of Jesus can do me any good.
Bah-humbugs - hospital bans carol singers over infection fears
8th December 2006 England- Scrooge hospital bosses have banned a troupe of carol singers from performing in the wards - in case they pass infections to patients.
The Gospelaires male voice choir have spread festive cheer at hospital bedsides for the past 40 years with their renditions of Christmas carol favourites.
But the 16-strong group of elderly men have been told they are a health hazard and will not be allowed to enter the wards of their local Torbay Hospital in Torquay, Devon .
Under a new "visitor charter" drawn up by hospital chief executive Tony Parr all groups have been banned from visiting the sick during the festive season...
...The Torbay Gospelaires say they take care to rub their hands in antibacterial hand gel and have always followed medical precautions advised by the nurses and are stunned by the total ban.
For the past 40 years the popular group, which has an average age of 65, has performed classics like Silent Night and Come All Ye Faithful in the hospital without incident and to enthusiastic applause. ...
...All the choir men are very disappointed as this was always one of the highlights of our year and we enjoyed the visits very much… "So much so that two years ago, when one of our men was terminally ill with cancer, he came with us and we took him around in a wheelchair, he just didn't want to miss out.”
..."Yet we have been told by one of the hospital chaplains that dogs are sometimes allowed into the wards because it is therapeutic for the patients - it is quite unbelievable...”
...The choir have been told by hospital management that they may perform in the public areas - such as the canteen and entrance hall - but they will not be allowed past the threshold of the wards.
But Colin says "The point of the exercise is that we help to cheer up the people who really need it, the patients and the nurses, not the visitors hanging around getting a sandwich."

'Tis not the season at Sea-Tac Airport
There will be no more Christmas trees at Sea- Tac Airport this season after the Port of Seattle received one complaint about them.
For more than 25 years, the airport has celebrated the holidays with Christmas trees over its entrances. But overnight, the Port of Seattle ordered all 15 trees removed…

St. Paul stops requiring job seekers to disclose criminal records
ST. PAUL - The City of St. Paul is giving a break to ex-cons in hopes that they'll stay ex-cons.
Mayor Chris Coleman issued an order this week saying the city will stop requiring job applicants to disclose whether they've ever been convicted of a crime.
There are exceptions for jobs that relate directly to the crime committed, and the law doesn't apply to police officers and firefighters…
"Anybody that works in a rec center, absolutely we're going to do a background check on them," she said. (Oh, so there are exceptions… Sounds to me this do-gooder rule is already useless. Just another example of politically correct feel good nothingness…)

Gore Taking Heat for Global Warming
Dec. 5, 2006
...the distinguished United States Sens. Jay Rockefeller and the inconveniently named Olympia Snowe are so inflamed by Mr. Gore's alarm that they want to have anyone who contradicts him cast into the outer darkness with such nincompoops as those who think the moon landings were staged on a Hollywood set.
Global warming denial would be a crime if they have their way.
Would they not be better advised to direct their attention to the global warming fanatics who, for example, tell us that the Antarctic region is warming and the ice and snow cover are melting away? It's hard to conceive when we read that "An Antarctic hut used by Captain Robert Falcon Scott is being crushed under record snowdrifts, prompting a marathon digging effort by a New Zealand-led team.
"Four conservators with the Antarctic Heritage Trust [AHT] spent a week shovelling 85 tonnes of snow from around Cape Evans hut in a bid to prevent more damage being caused by snowdrifts one third bigger than it has faced in its 95-year history," according to the Trust.
Phil Brennan ...helped handle the Washington public relations operation for the Alaska Statehood Committee which won statehood for Alaska . He is also a trustee of the Lincoln Heritage Institute and a member of the Association For Intelligence Officers.

The global warming issue has never been about actually changing the earths temps (it can't be done) but is really about wealth redistribution (partially) but mainly it is an excuse to transfer power to a few unaccountable people.
